Cashmere Care
HOW DO YOU CARE FOR CASHMERE?
Cashmere, known for its luxurious softness and warmth, is a cherished addition to any wardrobe. However, maintaining its condition requires some special care. Here’s a short guide on how to keep your cashmere pieces looking beautiful for years to come.
HOW TO CLEAN CASHMERE:
Cashmere Washing Instructions
For cashmere, we always recommend dry cleaning first; however, if you prefer to wash your cashmere garments at home, you may opt for hand washing. Hand wash your cashmere in cool to lukewarm water using a mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. The detergent should be dye-free. Avoid regular detergents and bleach, as they will damage the fibers. Soak the garment for 5 minutes with the first minute dedicated to gently agitating the garment with your hands. Remove the soapy water and re-soak the garment in clean, cool water. Repeat the final step until the water runs clear.
Cashmere Drying Instructions
Never wring out your cashmere. Instead, gently press out excess water. Lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel, roll it up to remove additional moisture, then reshape and lay flat on another dry towel to air dry. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Professional Cashmere Cleaning
For stubborn stains or when your cashmere needs a thorough clean, take it to a professional cleaner experienced with delicate fabrics.
CASHMERE CARE TIPS:
Storage
Store cashmere in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging cashmere items, as this can stretch the fabric. Instead, fold them neatly and place them in a breathable storage bag or box. Adding cedar balls or lavender sachets can help prevent moths.
Pilling Prevention
Pilling is a natural occurrence with cashmere, caused by friction. To minimize pilling, avoid wearing your cashmere in situations where it may rub against rough surfaces. When pills do appear, use a cashmere comb or a fabric shaver to gently remove them.
Everyday Care
Cashmere is a special clothing piece. The fibers need a break between wears in order to recover. Be cautious with jewelry and bags, as they can snag the fabric.
How to Get Wrinkles Out of Cashmere
If your cashmere garment develops wrinkles, never use a hot iron directly on the fabric. Instead, use a steamer on a low setting. Always ensure the garment is completely dry before wearing or storing it.
By following this advice, you can maintain the luxurious feel and look of your cashmere garments, ensuring they remain favorites in your wardrobe for years to come.
